The past three weeks have been a whirlwind: leaving Boston and flying to Lancaster, PA for my brother’s wedding, then heading to Denver and establishing a new summer life here. We have LOVED all the sweet time with family and feel so blessed to be close to them for these few months.
Corbin and Sheila had a fire pit with ‘smores at their wedding! Alex and Audrey had tons of fun together.
Mom and Corbin shared a sweet mother-son dance at the reception.
Alex danced and danced together. Audrey stayed up waaaay past her bedtime two nights and a row and was so sleepy she laid her head on his shoulder. But she never fell asleep– too much excitement!
Audrey was an absolute trooper of a traveler and loved riding on buses and taxis to get to and from the airport. She wanted to hold her new dolly from Great-Grandmother all the way from Lancaster to Denver.
After being accustomed to city living and no yard, Audrey has loved playing in Nonna’s front yard.
Audrey fell in love with the wagon I rode in as a child. So sweet!
Alex took an impromptu trip to Portland over Memorial Day weekend to help his Dad pack up his childhood home. When he got home, we bought a kiddie pool and played in the backyard despite the somewhat frigid temperatures.
Playing at Nonna’s park. Look at that beautiful blue sky! I love it.
Audrey playing with the train set my Dad bought for Tiffany and me when we were little girls.
Audrey ADORES her Aunt Tiffy. There have been lots of games of hide-and-seek and looking at pictures on Tiffy’s phone.
This week at our house…
…uncle Corbin is graduating from college today! We wish so much that we could be there to celebrate with him but we’re so proud of him and all he has accomplished! Way to go, CJ!
Audrey has been engaged in a lot of creative, messy play. This photo captures what our living room/play room has looked like most of the time the past couple weeks:
Audrey went “fishing” with her box and broom.
We met Daddy at the Langdell lawn one evening and Audrey had a “meeting” with Daddy at the picnic table.
We visited the Science Museum again and had lots of fun!
Audrey and I made an “Easter Book” with Easter-related coloring pages since she has been so into the story the past few weeks.
Audrey LOVES when we let her climb the stairs up from the parking garage at the apartment.
Finally, we said goodbye for the summer to our friends Leo and Abby. We hope you guys have a great summer and we can’t wait to see you again in September!
This week at our house:
Alex and I attended the HLR Spring Formal at the Harvard Club in Boston.
Audrey played the drums with her pots and pans.
She also got a new green hairbrush at Target. It was a BIG deal. When we got home she wanted to brush her hair in front of the mirror– I didn’t even know she’d noticed me doing that!
Audrey and mommy smiled for the camera after naptime (bedhead included!). Audrey’s not much of a snuggler, but sometimes she’ll sit on my lap and we’ll read books after nap.
Audrey wanted to pretend to “spray” things with her new hairbrush and comb.
All in all, it was a pretty routine week at our house!
This week at our house….
Audrey tried one of Daddy’s favorites: rice rolled in a seaweed wrap (Nori). She absolutely loved it!
Audrey received a pink apron in the mail from Great-Grandmother.
Audrey got new socks. She was SO excited! I told her she could try on two new ones, so, naturally, she picked out one pink one and one purple one (not what mom had in mind!). She’s actually crying in this shot– I think because I wouldn’t let her put her fancy shoes on right before nap??
Audrey read books!
Audrey got to wear her fancy shoes and carry the bag after we went shopping. Bummed this shot is a bit blurry.
Audrey dressed up in her cow costume and read “Going to the Zoo” to Nonna over Skype.
That was our week!
This week at our house…
…Audrey made a turkey (again). Since November, Audrey has wanted to make a turkey with Katie every week when she comes to babysit. And ever since November, Katie has gently tried to encourage Audrey to make other animals, but to no avail. The next morning, Audrey bounds out of bed and runs out to the kitchen to show us her handiwork from the night before.
Audrey adores her books so I have been trying to take her to the library once a week to check out a stack (between books for her and books for my school work, we currently have almost 70 out. Wow!). We find a stack and then a window seat to read through them together, before picking out our favorites to take home.
This week it was especially chaotic and Audrey surprised me by plopping down and calmly looking through her book. The girl loves books! Her favorite from this week’s haul is “We are going to the Zoo.”
One day this week, we went to the park after nap and then walked over to Gannett House (the Law Review building) to meet Alex and walk home with him. I captured this shot of Audrey greeting Alex.
We also got to check out the science museum this week, compliments of friends with a membership.
Audrey has three moose stuffed animals, all gifts from her Poppa. One time recently she took them with her to check the mail and now she wants to take them every time we go out in the hall to get the mail.
This week we also received the invitation to Corbin and Sheila’s wedding! Audrey talks about the wedding a lot and carried the invitation around until it was well-worn.
Speaking of mail, Audrey has also developed an affinity for catalogs and magazines. Here she is perusing the Costco catalog, of all things.
That was the week at our house! What did you do this week?
This week at our house….
…Audrey and Daddy smiled for a picture at church.
…Audrey and Daddy played after dinner, like usual.
…Audrey made a pretend pizza one morning.
…Audrey and I went to the park twice in one day because it was finally warm enough. Hopefully this is one of the last times we’ll have to bundle up this much. (Secret: I haven’t been putting gloves on Audrey for her stroller rides since she doesn’t like them and just puts her hands inside her blanket most of the time. I’m a terrible mother.)
…Audrey pretended to be a “gurl” aka squirrel at the park.
…Audrey went for a horsey ride on her favorite stallion.
….Daddy and Audrey played with Gerald and Piggie.
What was the highlight of your week?
